NEW YORK: Inclusiveness, empowering women and young people, and investing in human capital will help to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, according to one of the Kingdom’s diplomats. Bandar bin Mahdi Al-Nahdi, who is first secretary at the permanent mission of Saudi Arabia to the UN in New York, was speaking at a New York meeting held to discuss the outcome of the World Summit on Sustainable Development during the 74th UN General Assembly. Al-Nahdi thanked the UN for organizing the Sustainable Development Summit, which was held last month.  He said it showed the commitment and keenness of the UN and member states to fulfil the global body’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. He highlighted the challenges in achieving the goals, saying these must be addressed through an integrated approach with partnerships involving all stakeholders. Al-Nahdi said that Saudi Arabia, through the presidency of the G20 next year, would ensure that the priorities presented were aligned with the priorities of sustainable development.
