JEDDAH: Saudi Border Guards took part in a major military and security training exercise, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The annual drill, organized by the Mohammed bin Naif Academy for Maritime Science and Security Studies in Jeddah, included shooting with live ammunition, arrest techniques, and night ambush skills. Academy spokesman, Maj. Mohammed Al-Thaqafi, said the field training included shooting practice at static and moving targets, arrest and inspection procedures surrounding smuggling on the country’s borders, and use of the latest surveillance techniques. Trainees also carried out exercises on distress signals and maritime communications, security and the guarding of sites, night ambushes, and long marching. Familiarization on “the best ways of coexistence and self-defense training to raise the level of endurance capabilities and overcome barriers,” was also included in the program, added Al-Thaqafi.
