Saudi Energy Minister Launches Countdown to Resume Joint Oil Production

Saudi Arabias Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in the presence of Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water of the State of Kuwait Dr. Khaled Al-Fadil, launched the countdown to start resuming production operations in the joint Khafji operations. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman launched the countdown during his visit on Wednesday to the headquarters of the joint Khafji operations. He indicated that the resumption of production will be gradual and that by the end of 2020, it will reach about 325 thousand barrels per day. The Minister of Energy stressed that the wise directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his concern that the file of the divided region and the submerged area be concluded is in concord to come out with a stable and sustainable future vision, indicating that this consensus would not have occurred without the attention and follow-up of Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that the Crown Prince was a key party in reaching the texts of the foundations points that were negotiated with the brothers in Kuwait and that without this framework and these foundations "we would not be able to reach this agreement, and therefore I am indebted to the position of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to enable me to continue on this matter, and I thank the Crown Prince for his confidence in me to complete this file, and for his support and follow-up until we came out with this honorable result for all." Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman added that the implementation of projects in the Dorra gas field will be soon indicating that there are companies that have the ability to start these projects, indicating that the region is promising and contains large quantities of gas, the Saudi Press Agency reported. For his part, Sheikh Ali Al-Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Saudi Arabia, extended through a press statement congratulations to the Kuwaiti and Saudi leadership. He lauded historic and distinct relations binding Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, thanking the Saudi Crown Prince for his great efforts in this agreement. He also thanked the Saudi Minister of Energy for his great efforts during the meetings held in the recent period.
