Abe commended the Saudi government for the attention it gives to children with disabilities RIYADH: Akie Abe, wife of Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo, visited Riyadh’s Disabled Children’s Association (DCA) on Sunday. She was welcomed by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Swailem, deputy chairman of the DCA, and members of the board of directors Princess Fahda bint Fahd, Sulaiman Al-Sudairi, Mohammed Al-Shuwair and Dr. Majida Besar. Abe and the accompanying delegation toured DCA’s specialized departments and units alongside DCA’s executive director, Dr. Ahmad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Tamimi, where they inspected the services of the educational and medical departments and equipment. She also tried the wheelchair program that imitates the daily suffering of disabled people. Abe commended the Saudi government for the attention it gives to children with disabilities, reflected in the comprehensive care provided by DCA for their health and educational rehabilitation. “What DCA achieved is comparable to what is provided in several countries. We are delighted with this visit, that allowed us to see the great progress in the medical and educational department,” she said, expressing her hope that: “Agreements will be concluded to improve rehabilitation treatment for children in the Kingdom and Japan.” At the end of her visit, Abe left a note in DCA’s record of official visits before Al-Swailem presented her with a painting made for her by the children.
