Israeli forces announced Wednesday it was increasing its security presence in the West Bank and on the border with Gaza after US President Donald Trump announced the deal of the century. “Following the ongoing situation assessment, it has been decided to reinforce the Judea and Samaria and Gaza Divisions with additional combat troops,” the statement said, AFP reported. Palestinians launched protests rejecting Trump’s controversial peace plan that gives Israel a US green light to annex key parts of the occupied West Bank. The proposal is seen as supportive of Israeli objectives that were drafted with no Palestinian input. Dozens of Palestinians were injured during the clashes with the Israeli forces in the West Bank, while Gazans announced a general strike in the city as part of the protests, where dozens of government institutions, shops, and schools were shut down. The German News Agency quoted Palestinian medical sources as saying that two Palestinians were wounded by live bullets during clashes with the Israeli forces in al-Bireh. The Red Crescent announced it treated two Palestinians injured by live bullets during confrontations with the occupation army in al-Tawil Mount in al-Bireh, adding that its crews treated 41 live and rubber bullets wounds during clashes. Israeli forces tried to prevent hundreds of Palestinians from reaching the Jordan Valley in a protest against the deal of the century and Israels plans to annex the Valley. In Hebron, a Palestinian young man was shot in the head with a rubber-coated metal bullet and dozens of people suffocated during clashes with the forces, and similar clashes took place in the cities of Ramallah, Nablus, and Jenin. Voice of Israel reported that dozens of Palestinians threw stones at the Israeli forces at several locations in the West Bank, while the forces responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.
