The first-of-its-kind Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) will kick off in Riyadh on Tuesday to address cyber opportunities, challenges, threats and risks and to strengthen international collaboration to create a global cybersecurity roadmap that aims to build a secure, resilient and prosperous cyber world for all. The event will be organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) and held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. It will bring together more than 1,000 figures representing government officials, C-suite executives, international organizations and other key stakeholders drawn from expert communities and academia from inside and outside Saudi Arabia. Across two agenda-setting days, the GCF plenary sessions are organized around five major themes affecting the future of cybersecurity: Cyber industry, Cyber threats and resilience, Cyber culture, Cyber international collaboration and Cyber disruption. Those discussions aim to strengthen international collaboration, facilitate the launch of both national and international initiatives to create a secure and prosperous cyberworld, as well as develop domestic capabilities in support of Saudi Vision 2030. The forum would initiate dialogue between providers and governments on how to secure a transparent and open internet to protect the world from a range of easily preventable online threats. It will highlight Saudi Arabia’s current and future initiatives that aim at creating a secure cyberspace that enables growth and prosperity. It will also leverage the local and global economic opportunities presented by rapid technological changes to establish a globe-leading cybersecurity industry. The event reflects the rising importance of cybersecurity in today’s international business environment, as emphasized in Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s speech at this year’s G-20 Osaka Summit. The event coincides with Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the upcoming G-20 Summit in Riyadh, as well as major investment projects under Vision 2030.
