Fares Bin Mansour Al-Malik, participated in the first International Expert Group Meeting on Security of Major Sporting Events at the UN in New York. Al-Malik thanked the UN for organizing the meeting, noting that the security of major sporting events required tremendous resources, effort and coordination. He explained that Saudi Arabia had accumulated experience on how to manage and organize large crowds over many decades during Hajj and Umrah. He pointed out that, as the number of pilgrims varied between 3 and 4 million per year over the course of a few days and in specific, concentrated locations in Makkah, the Kingdom had become adept at dealing with fluctuating needs during large scale events. He indicated that successful crowd control and security management at major cultural events had become standard in the era of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the wake of the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 program, which seeks to improve the lifestyles of Saudi citizens, and to build a society with an environment that enhanced participation in cultural, recreational and sporting activities. Main category: Saudi ArabiaTags: Vision 2030Vision2030 Saudi Sports for All Federation sees exciting finish with three winning teamsSaudi sports authority chairman receives Arab Achievement Award for Sports Culture 2019
