The Global Cybersecurity Forum concluded its first edition on Wednesday with the participation of more than 120 speakers and 3,500 registered participants. Organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the forum hosted global policymakers, businesses, investment firms and international organization representatives to discuss how the world’s collective cybersecurity should be enhanced. During the conference, Saudi Arabia announced the adoption of two major initiatives on the protection of children in the cyber world and the empowerment of women in cyber security. The forum issued a set of recommendations that underlined the importance of enhancing cyber capabilities at the national level, building the skills required for cyber resilience in global business, and unifying efforts to create a safer cyber world. Participants called for reducing cybercrime, understanding its nature and facing emerging cyber challenges. They also highly valued the Kingdom’s initiatives in promoting cyber security and its efforts to make the International Forum’s first edition a great success. The sessions revolved around skill development, means to bridge the gap in the current and future workforce and children protection from Internet threats, as well as the importance of cyber security in the areas of energy, healthcare, financial services, communications and smart cities, and the participation and empowerment of women in cyber security.
