Drivers were left facing chaos after the Queensferry Crossing was closed due to infrastructure concerns first raised last year. The £1.35 billion bridge was forced to shut on Monday evening after falling ice blocks damaged up to eight cars. It is expected to be closed until Wednesday. The hazard left the 80,000 motorists who use the crossing everyday having to take a 35-mile diversion in order to cross the Forth via the Kincardine Bridge. The lethal blocks of ice are the result of snow and sleet brought in by Storm Ciara accumulating on the bridge"s main cables and freezing due to the low temperatures. The concerns were first raised in October last year when Transport Scotland admitted that engineers were trying to fix the problem after the windscreens of three cars were smashed throughout the 2018 winter....
