Saracens are likely to suffer a further blow with Allianz ready to rip up its lucrative sponsorship deal with the English and European champions. Allianz is understood to have told Saracens last week of its intention to end an association as the club’s principal partner going back to 2012. The contract had been due to end in 2021 but, according to the Financial Times, Allianz is poised to cut ties a year early in the wake of the salary-cap scandal that has already cost Saracens relegation to the Championship and a £5.4 million punishment. As well as being their main shirt sponsors, the German insurance company also possesses naming rights to Saracens’ home stadium. Even after Allianz ends its sponsorship deal, worth an estimated £2 million a year, it is unclear whether it will insist on Saracens renaming Allianz Park....
