Wasps have been plunged into a state of disarray following the sudden announcement that longstanding director of rugby Dai Young is to “step back” from his first-team duties “for an interim period”. It is unclear whether the former Wales prop will return to a post he has held since 2011, having joined Wasps from his long-time coaching role at Cardiff Blues, or whether he will eventually leave the club. Backs/attack coach Lee Blackett has been appointed interim head coach and will prepare the side for this weekend’s clash with local rivals Leicester. Senior players are reportedly shocked by the decision, which was only communicated to them on Tuesday morning after a senior management meeting was called at the Ricoh Arena.
