Doubts were growing last night over one of the world’s biggest trade shows, after a string of companies withdrew from Mobile World Congress over coronavirus fears and the organisers reportedly were considering whether to abandon the event, due to be held in Barcelona later this month. MWC, a critical event in the annual calendar for the global telecom industry, had been expected to attract over 100,000 people to the Catalan port city from February 24-27. Last night US tech giants Facebook, Cisco Systems and Sprint all confirmed they were pulling out of the event. Chipmaker Intel said it was pulling out due to “an abundance of caution” while AT&T said “the most responsible decision” was to protect its staff and customers by not attending....
