A mother and son are under investigation for allegedly making more than £800,000 worth of bogus hotel reservations, earning 17,500 in reward points that they spent on themselves. Yukiko Kishida, 51, and her son Yukihiro, 30, face up to eight years in prison after being accused by police of fraudulent obstruction of business and offences relating to digital records over a scam. They allegedly cost businesses 115 million yen (£805,000) in lost earnings in a scam that has exposed a loophole in one of Japan’s most popular accommodation booking sites.
