MUNICH — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan has reiterated that Saudi Arabia has not sent “any private messages to Iran,” adding that the Kingdom’s message is “quite clear.” The foreign minister said that "Our message to Iran is to change its behavior first before discussing anything else”. Prince Faisal made his remarks at Munich Security Conference in a panel discussion on Saturday. “Saudi Arabia is always interested in reducing escalation in the region but until the moment there are no direct contacts with Iran,” he said
Prince Faisal confirmed that "there is only one party behind the instability in the region," explaining that "Iran engages in reckless behavior and threatens the global economy." On the Yemeni issue, the foreign minister affirmed that the Kingdom prefers a political solution in Yemen through dialogue under international care. "Our position in Yemen has always been supportive of the political solution,” he added. “We have always said that we favor a political resolution, we favored every political dialogue whether it’s... by Martin Griffiths or his predecessor and we will continue to support that.”
“We hope that Houthis focus on the interests of Yemen not Iran,” he said. “We have an ambitious agenda to host the G20 summit this year and we invite everyone to come and see our reforms and progress on all levels personally.” Prince Faisal said “Saudi Arabia has common interests and historical ties with the United States and good channels for dialogue with the US Congress”. — Agencies
