Jeremy Corbyn should be allowed to return to frontline politics as Labour’s shadow foreign secretary, a deputy leadership candidate has suggested. Richard Burgon, the shadow justice secretary, on Sunday said that the outgoing Labour leader still had a “long political career ahead of him” after claiming he would make an “ideal” foreign spokesman. He added that Mr Corbyn still had a “big contribution” to make to Labour, pointing out that he was nearly 10 years younger than Bernie Sanders, the US Democratic senator who is currently seeking the nomination for president.
