BANGKOK — Poland"s Magda Linette won Thailand Open on Sunday, dominating Swiss young gun Leonie Kung 6-3, 6-2. The tournament took place in the seaside city of Hua Hin. Fifth seed Linette — who is ranked 42nd in the world — made quick work of her opponent, sealing her second career title after winning last year"s Bronx Open against Italian Camila Giorgi. But 19-year-old Kung was all smiles at the awards ceremony. "I"m so happy to play my first WTA final... it"s been an incredible week," she said. "I"m just trying to build up my ranking and play day-by-day," Kung said. Linette"s victory capped an impressive week in the $250,000 tournament, where she battled Chinese teenager Wang Xiyu in three sets to reach the semi-finals, and then bettered Romanian Patricia Maria Tig in a 7-5, 6-4 win. — AFP
