Jackson Carlaw has sacked his defeated rival for the Scottish Tory leadership as he unveiled his Shadow Cabinet. Mr Carlaw ousted Michelle Ballatyne from the social security brief after she claimed the party lacked "vision and ambition" during the recent general election campaign he spearheaded. Speaking to the Telegraph during the campaign, which descended into a bitter war of words, he said she had failed to submit a "single policy proposal" in the post. The role has been handed to Graham Simpson, who becomes Shadow Housing, Communities and Social Security Minister, while Ms Ballantyne was given the convenership of Holyrood"s economy committee. Unveiling his Shadow Cabinet, Mr Carlaw said it boasted "the best people fighting in the best places" and was designed to fight the SNP in the run-up to next year"s Holyrood election....
