The temperature of Windermere has risen by a degree since the 1980s, a study has found, and there are fears it could be harming the fish. Scientists from the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology has been surveying the lake for decades and monitoring the temperature and water quality. They found that, between 1981 and 2010, average temperatures were approximately 11°C, but that yearly-averaged temperatures were approximately 1°C above this after 2000. Additionally, for the lakes that they monitor, at least 4 of the 5 warmest years in their records occur after 2000. They have blamed the rise in temperature on climate change, and pointed out that our waters warming is just as worrying as the air temperature rising when it comes to the health of our planet....
