A £14 billion boost in education spending due to be outlined in next month"s budget risks being “squandered” by poorly managed schools, the head of Ofsted has warned. Amanda Spielman, the chief inspector of schools in England, said that there is “clearly” room for improvement when it comes to school budgeting and that bad financial decisions can be “harmful” to children’s education as well as a waste of taxpayer funds. The commentary was due to be published early next month alongside a piece of research by Ofsted on school funding. However, it was put online yesterday by accident before being quickly removed. It comes ahead of the Spring Budget, in which Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to restate his pledge to give schools a cash injection of an extra £14 billion over three years....
