MADRID — Denmark"s Jakob Fuglsang won the third stage of the Tour of Andalucia on Friday to stretch his overall lead. The Astana rider, who is opening his season in Andalucia, won the mountainous 176.9km stage from between Jaen and Ubeda, powering away from the pack at the finish. He edged Bahrain"s Basque rider Pello Bilbao with American Brandon McNulty of UAE leading the pursuers in, one second behind. In the closing stages, Dylan Teuns and Jack Haig attacked but ran into trouble round the final bend giving Fuglsang an opening. Earlier this month, Fuglsang had to deny links with Michele Ferrari, the Italian medic banned for life in 2012 for his part in the Lance Armstrong doping scandal. The Dane, the defending champion, remains in command of the general classification, ahead of the formidable Bahrain trio of Mikel Landa, Bilbao and Teuns. Landa is 14 seconds behind in second. Bilbao is 30 seconds adrift in third. Teuns is a further second behind in fourth.
