A group of Tunisian youth revealed that a new political party will be unveiled soon and will be founded on principles and ideas adopted and promoted by Tunisian President Kais Saied. The new party will even share the same slogan used in Saied’s election campaign. Stressing the need for a grassroots approach, the youth group called for regime change. They also focused on the people partaking in their right to self-determination. According to the founding body of the party, the percentage of youth representation within any party structure should not be less than 80%, and the percentage of women representation must not be less than 50%. The founding members confirmed the opening of party membership. Upon the party’s establishment, engagement will be a legitimate right of every Tunisian who does not belong to any other political party. The announcement of this party has raised a lot of controversy over its relationship with Saied, and whether the latter would seek to use it to pressure the heads of government and parliament. Spectators believe that the president will not venture to show support for this emerging political party, but he may resort to its constituent youth for politicking and calling for a change in the way of governance in Tunisia. The newfangled youth party will also call on the president to assume his constitutional and historical responsibilities in removing Tunisia from a state of waiting, obstruction, and blockage, and to activate constitutional mechanisms to end partisanship found at the expense of the normal functioning of public facilities. It is worth mentioning that the president has announced on more than one occasion that young people are not satisfied with the traditional programs set forth by candidates for various high-ranking posts in the country. Saied also recalled that he ran for the presidency of Tunisia independently and vowed to remain independent.
