Prince Abdulaziz, Al-Khateeb and Al-Falih head new ministries

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Tuesday issued a series of royal decrees, appointing new ministers and creating new ministries. Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Bin Faisal is to head the ministry of sports, Ahmad Al-Khateeb was named the new minister of tourism and Khalid Al-Falih was appointed minister of investment. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has been converted into ministry of tourism while the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) and the General Sport Authority (GSA) have been transformed into Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Sports respectively. Al-Khateeb was hitherto serving as chairman of the board of directors of SCTH while Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Turki was the chairman of GSA. Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah has been relieved of his duties and Minister of Commerce Majed Al-Qasabi has been named acting minister of media. King Salman has relieved Minister of Civil Service Sulaiman Al-Hamdan and SAGIA Governor Ibrahim Al-Omar of their positions. Minister of Housing Majed Al-Huqail has been appointed acting minister of municipal and rural affairs. Sami Al-Hamoud is the new assistant minister of industry and mineral resources for planning and development while Muneer Al-Dasouqi was appointed assistant minister of communications and information technology. The King appointed Muhammad Al-Ameel as deputy secretary general of the Council of Ministers. Another royal decree merges ministry of civil service with ministry of labor and social development. The new ministry will henceforth be called as ministry of human resources and social development. Ministry of commerce and investment has been renamed as the ministry of commerce, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the royal decrees.
