ALULA — Electronic music legend Jean Michel Jarre, international chart-toppers The Chainsmokers, British rapper Tinie Tempah and K-Pop sensation Super Junior D&E are set to take the stage during Azimuth Festival this weekend. Beginning on March 2, 2020, the three-day event is part of the larger Winter at Tantora festival which has been taking place since Dec. 19, 2019. Set in Alula, the festival-within-a-festival will showcase three-days of back-to-back live music, unforgettable gastronomic experiences and world-class art. Apart from music, a group of chefs led by Brazilian chef Alex Atala will be creating culinary magic on site for the foodies, whilst world-class art installations by art-world superstars Lauren Baker and Shuster & Moseley will be on exhibit to whet the interest of art-lovers. A Day of Music: In addition to high-octane sets by The Chainsmokers, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tinie Tempah and Super Junior D&E, well-loved regional acts such as Hollaphonic, Omar Basaad and Hamza Hawsawi will take to the stage on March 6. Music fans can purchase the Event Pass, priced at SR500 only for Friday, March 6, to enjoy all the performances and the larger festival. The pass will provide access to the festival, shuttle bus transport between the Winter Park and the Azimuth site every 30 minutes, a locker and a complimentary drink. Tasteful Experiences: All three days of Azimuth will feature menus created by celebrity chefs including Brazilian head chef Alex Atala of D.O.M., two of New York’s rising stars Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske Valtierra of Contra and Wildair, and beverages designed by globally awarded drinks experts Mr Lyan Studio. The festival will also host pop-up restaurants Annabel’s and La Cantine du Faubourg for lunch, Sass Café for dinners and Nobu at Maraya Rooftop for drinks. Art for the Soul: British contemporary artists Lauren Baker and the conceptual art studio Shuster & Moseley led by Claudia Moseley and Edward Shuster will bring the weekend’s art programme to life. This in addition to Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Room — The Brilliance of Souls, installed in the Maraya concert hall. Guests will also have access to the inaugural Desert X AlUla exhibition, hosted in AlUla. Desert X AlUla is the first site-responsive exhibition of its kind in Saudi Arabia. An exploration of desert culture, the exhibition is a cross-cultural dialogue between artists from Saudi Arabia and its surrounding region and artists from previous iterations of Desert X in California, taking its cues from the extraordinary landscape and historical significance of AlUla.
