The Saudi Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday that Riyadhs International book fair will be postponed over fear of the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19). In a statement, the ministry said the decision was in response to a recommendation issued by an Ad Hoc committee formed upon a Royal Order. The event was previously scheduled to be held from 2 - 11 April, 2020. However, the ministry said the measure was designed to ensure safety of the multi-national visitors of the exhibition and personnel working at the site. The Riyadh International Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the region. It is considered a platform for companies, institutions and individuals working and interested in the book and publishing industry to display their products and services. It also plays an important role in promoting and developing reading habits and skills in the society.
