RIYADH: The 13th edition of the Saudi General Surgery Society Conference — organized by the Saudi General Surgery Society (SSGS) — concluded in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. The three-day conference was attended by doctors and consultants from a number of different countries and examined the latest surgical research and scientific papers, as well as providing several workshops. The conference also included an exhibition in which numerous public and private sector companies participated to promote their medical devices. SSGS president Dr. Wail Abdulhafeez Tashkandi said that, over the past 13 years, the conference has proven to play a crucial role in keeping up to date with the latest scientific developments. The latest edition, he said, is in line with Saudi Vision 2030, and is particularly timely given the current health challenges facing the world. He also stressed that the SSGS is responsible for organizing a number of workshops, activities and events apart from the conference, adding that the rapid development of the SSGS is “supported and sponsored by Abdulrahman Obaid Al-Youbi, the president of King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah.”
