Minister Al-Khorayef offers full support to medical factories

RIYADH — The government is determined to extend all its support to factories making medical products so as they produce sufficient quantities of supplies in order to combat the coronavirus pandemic, said Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef on Wednesday. Al-Khorayef, who is also chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), made the remarks during his visit to factories producing medical items in Riyadh’s second industrial city. Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Eng. Osama Al-Zamil, Director General of MODON Eng. Khalid Al-Salem and other senior officials of the industrial city received the minister. The minister’s inspection tour covered the premises of Arabian Medical Products Manufacturing Company (ENAYAH), which is spread over an area of 12,600 square meters. ENAYAH manufactures a wide range of disposable health-care products such as gowns, draping systems, components, accessories and sterilization wraps as well as headwear and footwear, lab coats, hospital coveralls, patient gowns and aprons. He also inspected the factory of the National Medical Products Company Ltd., which has a total area of 20,000 square meters, and it’s most important products, include reagents and medical supplies. The visit also included the factory of the Saudi Mais Company for Medical Products Ltd. (SMMP), which produces antibiotics, advanced medical disposable items and laboratory tubes. The minister listened to a detailed explanation about the functioning of these medical factories, which are fully owned by Saudi investors. These factories operate to their maximum production capacity 24 hours a day in order to increase the volume of their products in the local market, which is witnessing a rapid growth in demand, especially amid the current coronavirus fears. The visit also included the Herfy Bakery Factory and Al-Shareef Carton Factory. MODON is currently supervising 35 industrial cities and these include some cities which are under various phases of implementation in different regions of the Kingdom, in addition to private industrial complexes and cities. The industrial cities host more than 3,500 productive factories.
