DUBAI: Many stars are currently practicing social distancing in a bid to deal with the international spread of coronavirus. Part-Arab models like Sonia Ben Ammar, Shanina Shaik and Bella Hadid are spending their time at home perfecting their moves social media platform TikTok, as millions of people around the world take to the app during self-quarantine. Like many other performers and stars right now, French-Tunisian model Sonia Ben Ammar is using her latest social media post to overcome self-isolation, while offering her followers a bit of lighthearted fun. Set to the tune of “It’s Corona Time” by Chumino, the 21-year-old’s latest tongue-in-cheek upload sees her executing a short skit against the backdrop of a faux tropical island, where she’s dressed in a black swimsuit and sunhat. Next, she puts on oversized sunglasses and pretends to lather sunscreen on her limbs before humorously putting on a surgical facemask. Ben Ammar isn’t the only star to get on board with TikTok. Saudi-Australian-Pakistani-Lithuanian model Shanina Shaik routinely takes to the social media platform to share her beauty and style tips and upload videos of herself performing short choreographed dances. Meanwhile, part-Palestinian model Bella Hadid recently rejoined TikTok. “I’m sorry. Please know I’m 99% joking but also 1% actually trying to impress you somehow,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of her TikTok profile. As she reached the eighth day of self-quarantine, the 23-year-old decided to document how she has been spending her time at home. The model uploaded a video of herself dancing and lip syncing to “DGAF” by Swaco The Illest, while dressed in a cozy work-from-home appropriate outfit that consisted of white sweatpants and a pink top. Many celebrities are turning to the social media platform in order to cope with social distancing. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber, Mariah Carey and Lizzo are only some of the stars making videos at home amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Jennifer Lopez and her fiance Alex Rodriguez recently joined TikTok and instantly went viral with their take on the “Flip the Switch” challenge, which sees two users switch outfits halfway through the video, while Drake raps “I just flipped a switch, flip, flip,” from his 2018 song, “Nonstop.”
