ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and the largest of the UAE"s seven emirates, has halted all rental property eviction cases along with executive procedures like imprisonment, blocking of bank accounts, seizure of vehicles, stocks and assets for a period of two months. The decision, which has been taken by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department at the directive of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, exempts cases related to alimony and labor disputes. “The move is in line with the UAE government"s keenness to support members of society and reduce their burdens during the current situation, the report added. Earlier on Sunday, Sharjah, another emirate, issued a three-month rent waiver for commercial tenants, Sharjah News, the official news agency for the emirate, tweeted a statement from Sharjah Asset Management, the investment wing of the Sharjah government. All shops in Haraj and Jubil markets will be exempted from paying rent for three months, the statement added.
