DUBAI — Dubai Police are using drones to ensure members of the public comply with the government’s order to avoid beaches and other public spaces as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Col. Saeed Al Madhani, director of Ports Police Station in Dubai, said that the Dubai Police always try to make the most of the latest modern technologies in implementing government decisions and we are doing the same to ensure temporary closure of public and private beaches. “Our drones are equipped with cameras that can photograph events in range, whether during the day or night. They can also carry loudspeakers to broadcast Dubai Police messages and announcements to the public,” Col. Al Madhani added. Daily drone patrols are usually carried out by the Ports Police Station through the ‘Nawras’ (seagull) project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Drone Centre in Dubai Police. He urged public members to adhere to the instructions for COVID-19, avoid crowded places and to stay home, wishing everyone safety and security.
