RIYADH — Talal Al-Shalhoub, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, announced on Wednesday evening details of security check points that are assigned to prevent entry and exit from the cities of Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh effective from Thursday. In a press briefing, Al-Shalhoub said that some new security posts will be set up in addition to the existing ones to ensure strict blocking of the entry and exit from these cities as part of measures to implement the order issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman earlier in the day. The following are the security check points in Riyadh region: north of Al-Qassim Road; Salboukh Sultana; Saad; Al-Qiddiya; Al-Kharj Road and the Dirab Road. New security points will be set up in Ramah and the old Al-Kharj Road. Makkah region: Shumaisi on Jeddah – Makkah Expressway; Shumaisi on old Makkah Road; Sabuha Al-Sail Center; Al-Kirr; Al-Kaakiya; and Al-Nouriayah in addition to the checkpoints on branch roads leading to the holy city. Madinah region: Makkah Hijrah Road; Yanbu Road Al-Faraish; Tabuk Road Al-Hofaira; Al-Qassim Highway Al-Har; in addition to a temporary security point on the Old Qassim City Road. Al-Shalhoub said that the continued cooperation of all citizens and expatriates in implementing the precautionary measures will have the greatest impact on the success of the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the emirate of Makkah region clarified that Jeddah and other regions of Makkah province will not be included in the new royal directive to extend curfew time to 3 p.m. from 7 p.m. from Thursday onwards. The curfew time in Makkah city will start from three o’clock in the afternoon Thursday along with the cities of Madinah and Riyadh while it will begin from 7 p.m. till 6 a.m. in all other cities and regions across the Kingdom. The order issued by the King prohibits people of all the 13 provinces of the Kingdom from leaving the region or moving to another region. The royal order also bans people from entering or exiting the boundaries of Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh. In a larger effort to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus, the recently imposed curfew will begin at 3 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. in the cities of Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh. The new directives will come into effect from Thursday afternoon until the end of the curfew period announced in an earlier order of the King.
