ABU DHABI — Residents in the United Arab Emirates will continue to avail mobile services even if their national IDs or any supporting documents have expired. Providing a major relief to mobile subscribers in the country, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has directed the telecommunications companies to put on hold the suspension and disconnection of mobile services due to the expiry of supporting documents or the IDs, state news agency WAM reported on Friday quoting a circular issued by the TRA. Customers with expired documents are not required to go in person to service centers or provide the necessary documents for availing uninterrupted services. The move, which is part of wider precautionary measures taken in the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus, aims to encourage residents to stay at home.
