Citizens and residents in the United Arab Emirates sang the national anthem of the country from the balconies of their homes as an expression of gratitude and a show of solidarity with first responders and health authorities during the nationwide disinfection campaign over the weekend aimed at combating the spread of the coronavirus. We share a common concern for our success in this challenge and for the safety of this country,” Gargash added. The UAE launched on Thursday March 26 a three-day nationwide disinfection campaign which was later extended till April 5, during which the authorities urged people to stay home from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. everyday. “Throughout this period, traffic and public movement will be restricted, and public transportation and metro service will be suspended,” the ministry of health said in a statement.
