ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday reported 150 new cases of coronavirus and two more deaths, the state news agency WAM said citing a statement from the country’s health ministry. With the detection of 150 new cases, the highest number of infections reported in a day in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the UAE stands at 814 as of Wednesday. And with the death of two more patients — a 62-year-old Asian national and a 78-year-old Gulf citizen — the death toll from the coronavirus in the country has reached eight. Both of the deceased had chronic illnesses, including heart disease, the statement said. Among the newly detected cases who are from different nationalities, a number of them are linked to international travel. All the patients are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care, the statement added. Meanwhile, the ministry and other local health authorities in the country again called upon the public to adopt healthy practices to protect themselves from contagious diseases. Healthy behaviors, which include regular hand washing with soap and water and covering the mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing, help prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
