RIYADH — Riyadh Mayoralty has carried out cleaning and sterilization operations for main and subsidiary roads and facilities in Al-Eraijaa and Manfouha districts, in western and southern Riyadh respectively, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Sunday. This comes within Riyadh Mayoralty’s comprehensive plan to achieve high levels of hygiene and sterilization in all parts of the capital, amid the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. These are in line with the directives of Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, emir of Riyadh Region, and Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulrahman, deputy emir of the region. In its sterilization campaigns, the mayoralty used street sweeping and street washing vehicles, thermal spraying and thermal fog machines, and backpack cylinders. The sterilization works covered the pedestrian walkways, public parks, recreation parks, pavements, and vehicle parking lots in crowded districts where there are frequently visited markets and pharmacies. The sterilization and disinfection works are integrated with the Riyadh Mayoralty supervision and inspection rounds to make sure the shops and firms are complying with the precautionary lockdown decisions and committed to the regulatory directives. These include sterilization of shopping trolleys, implementation of mandatory social distancing between customers, and conducting the necessary tests to ensure workers’ safety, in line with the precautionary measures to preserve the population’s safety and comfort.
