RIYADH — The national digital initiative "Homathon" competition, organized by the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity Programming and Drones (SAFCSP), were remotely launched on Sunday with the aim of building technical solutions that contribute to mitigating the effects of the coronavirus. More than 10,000 software developers from 51 countries applied for participating in the competition to date, where they will compete to innovate new technical solutions within the eight available tracks in Homathon: e-government, financial technology, health, education, trade, remote work, entertainment, and logistics sectors, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. The Homathon outputs will contribute to finding technical solutions that benefit governments, companies, societies and individuals, in addition to creating links and professional communication between developers and technologists from all over the world. The participant should build their teams of two to five people and then compete over a period of seven days to build qualitative technical solutions with a significant impact to reduce the effects of coronavirus. The best three technical solutions will be crowned with Homathon title and the financial prizes exceeding SR300,000. The Homathon competition is scheduled to conclude on April 25 after the participants are subject to sorting and evaluation, then the results of the winning teams will be announced on the same day.
