Darren Davis has been the president and CEO of the Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Ma’aden) since July 2018 and its non-executive director since January 2014. Davis obtained his degree in management and business studies from Birmingham’s Aston University in 1990 and is an associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Davis has held different positions in Ma’aden. He was finance director from July 2012 to March 2016, vice president of corporate finance from July 2014 to March 2016, and its chief financial officer from March 2016 to July 2018. Prior to joining Ma’aden he worked as an analyst in power and utilities at NatWest Markets, London, from 1990 to 1994. He also worked as a manager in structured finance at Tokai Bank, London, from 1994 to 1999. Davis was head of the GCC business group at Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation, Bahrain, and head of the resources and energy group of MENA at HSBC, Dubai, from 2004 to 2012. Davis is also a board member of the US-Saudi Arabian Business Council. Ma’aden last week announced a contribution of SR15 million ($4 million) to support the Health Endowment Fund at the Ministry of Health in the fight against coronavirus. The donation reflects Ma’aden’s commitment and obligations as a leading national company for the mining sector to embody Saudi social, cultural and economic values in facing the global health emergency.
