RIYADH: Saudi Shoura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah Al-Asheikh convened a session of the council online on Monday during which it agreed to introduce additional penalties for those who violate the law stipulating ownership of properties and investment in real estate. The law does not allow non-Saudis to own property and invest in the real estate sector. The council also approved amendments to a draft law on combating financial fraud and breach of trust. The Shoura Council took various decisions on different issues following deliberations by the relevant committees. The council also called on the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta to develop an app to streamline edicts issued by the Council of Senior Scholars and to make them available online using modern technology.
