RIYADH – Riyadh Municipality has allocated nine locations in the capital for the sale of small cattle during the holy month of Ramadan. These locations comprise sales points, and fixed and mobile abattoirs covering all parts of the city, to meet the increasing demand for meat during the holy month, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Saturday. The objective is also to facilitate matters for the people amid the precautionary measures in place to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Riyadh Municipality has provided a WhatsApp service to receive orders for the purchase and slaughter of livestock and to deliver the carcasses to the consumers’ homes, in coordination with the operators of slaughterhouses. The municipality is working on raising the level of readiness in mobile abattoirs to accommodate the likely increase in demand for mutton At the same time, the municipality has stressed compliance with the hygienic standards to ensure the safety of the citizens and expatriates. It also supervises the sales points for small cattle and the slaughterhouses to make sure that the beneficiaries get fresh and healthy meat. It is noteworthy that Riyadh Municipality aims to provide the needs of the population for commodities and services, and make sure the beneficiaries’ purchases of supplies and commodities are of good quality and healthy. It also makes sure that they are compliant with the precautionary measures to prevent the transmission of the novel coronavirus.
