MANAMA — The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) continues to provide in-kind assistance to about 4,500 needy families in various regions of Bahrain during the holy month of Ramadan, as the volunteers of the Society work during the evening period to deliver this aid to the needy families registered in the Society. The Society this year decided to deliver in-kind assistance to underprivileged families in their homes, instead of inviting them to come to the Society’s headquarters as it used to be in the past years, in line with precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus "COVID-19". The aid distribution schedule includes 73 regions in the various villages, cities and governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain, where specific days are allocated for each region, to ensure the smooth distribution process. Bahraini Red Crescent volunteers have been deployed in small teams to distribute aid during the evening after “Iftar”, wearing masks and gloves, and ensuring social distancing. Adel Aljar, head of social services committee, said in a statement on this occasion “The distribution of aid in these difficult circumstances comes as further evidence of the Red Crescent Society"s endeavor to support the Bahraini community. Reaching more than four thousand homes in various regions of Bahrain is not easy, but we accepted this challenge as part of our active contribution to national efforts to tackle coronavirus.” Ali Kadhem, head of public relations committee & member affairs committee, noted that volunteers will deliver this aid to the most deserving of underprivileged families, and meet their needs while respecting their humanity and dignity, as the volunteers benefit from the experience and vast knowledge of the Red Crescent Society with the requirements of underprivileged for more than forty years. Kadhem also clarified that "Express Rent a Car” company put about 14 cars free of charge at the disposal of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society to distribute the aid. Mubarak Al Hadi, director-general / acting general secretary, praised the efforts of the Society’s volunteers who work tirelessly to distribute aid to underprivileged families despite all the challenges, including the difficulty of reaching many families whose addresses have been changed, and the need to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus, and said that delivering this aid require double the efforts of the Society to fulfill its obligations. “We also thank "Express Rent a Car” company and all the Society’s partners for their support, and we urge private companies, institutions, individuals and well-wishers, to come forward and support the Society to help the community’s needy segment and succeed the aid program this year as it did in the previous years,” Al Hadi said.
