RIYADH — A Saudi doctor, who recently returned to the country from China, doubles up as a volunteer in a quarantine facility in Madinah, Alarabiya reported on Tuesday. The official duty as a doctor in the morning shift in one of the hospitals does not prevent Dr. Muaadh Muhammad Bashir from volunteering in the evening in a quarantine facility. Speaking to Alarabiya, Dr. Bashir said: “I was sent to China to study human medicine on a scholarship program six years ago. I returned to Saudi Arabia recently after completing graduation requirements.” He added: “At the beginning of the outbreak of coronavirus in China, I stayed there for about three months. However, due to my family’s growing concerns over my health, I returned to the Kingdom after great efforts exerted by the Saudi embassy in China.” He further said: "At present I’m working as an intern in a hospital in the morning shift, and as a volunteer in the evening in one of the health quarantines in Madinah, where I check up many people and conduct all the necessary tests. In case of any suspicion, swabs are taken from the suspected person and he or she is shifted to the hospital." Dr. Bashir said working as a volunteer in the health sector is pleasing and satisfying, especially since one is providing his services to the patients, as a humanitarian and patriotic gesture.
