RIYADH: The number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) registered with a platform that allows them to compete for government and private sector tenders has reached 9,417, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Forsa was launched in August 2016 by the Human Resources and Development Fund (Hadaf). The value of projects announced through the platform has reached SR539 million ($143.7 million). Forsa liaises between buyer and supplier, allowing the buyer to submit purchasing orders online to reach SMEs across the Kingdom. Hadaf has urged business owners and young entrepreneurs specializing in any technical field to register online with Forsa. Its 9/10ths program aims to change Saudi work culture by encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship and SMEs and empowering individuals to find new jobs using innovative ways. It offers several online services including Forsa, Tojjar, Zadd, Bahr, Made in Saudi Arabia, Kanaf and others. The Tojjar e-commerce platform, for example, is for home-based businesses and employers while Bahr helps businesses to find freelancers to finish projects.
