UAE reports 941 new coronavirus cases, 1,018 recoveries, 6 deaths

ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Wednesday announced 941 new coronavirus cases and six deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections and fatalities in the country to 26,004 and 233 respectively, according to a statement the Ministry of Health and prevention carried by state news agency WAM. A total of 1,018 more COVID-19 patents have completely recovered after receiving necessary treatment, taking the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 26,004, the official spokesperson of the UAE government said during a daily pressing briefing. The spokesperson added that the new cases were discovered following 43,732 tests conducted over the past few days. Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, spokesman for the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, urged people to celebrate Eid at home with family. “This year is exceptional and Eid prayers will be performed at home. Mosques will be closed and the Takbeer prayers will be broadcast 10 minutes before the Eid prayer. After the Takbeer, prayers should be performed at home,” he said. “Celebrate with family members and keep loved ones safe. We should show gratitude to our frontline workers.”
