Saudi Arabia registered on Monday 2,235 new coronavirus cases, raising its total to 74,795, as the health minister promised a "gradual" return to normal. Among the new case are 28,728 active ones and 384 in critical condition, said Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali. Nine more people have died from the disease, he told a daily press briefing on the outbreak. The death toll now stands at 399. Abdelali revealed that 2,148 more people have recovered from the virus, raising the total to 45,668, or almost nearly two-thirds of infections. He stressed the importance for people to avoid gatherings and respect health precautions, especially staying at home, maintaining social distancing, wearing a face mask and frequently washing hands. Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah later said the early precautions that were adopted in the Kingdom helped contain the spread of coronavirus and prepare for the outbreak. “We are proud of Saudi professionals, who are recognized internationally, and we are relying on their expertise in dealing with the virus,” he added. “We will enter a new stage on Thursday and gradually return to normal life,” he revealed. “Returning to normal requires us all to remain very vigilant,” he stressed. Rabiah urged everyone to cover their nose and mouth when they leave their homes. “We will reach safety when we all adhere to the precautions,” said the minister.
