Coronavirus cases top 3,000-mark for fourth consecutive day in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Tuesday registered 3,288 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom to 108,571, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. Saudi Arabia has seen a significant increase in COVID-19 cases recently, with the daily tally surpassing 3,000-mark for the fourth consecutive day. Out of the total infections, 31,449 are active cases who are in stable health conditions and receiving necessary medical care, while 1,686 cases are critical. The ministry also announced that 37 more patients died from the virus, taking the total number of fatalities in the country to 783. Meanwhile, a total of 1,815 more patients have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 76,339 so far. The number of daily infections crossed 1,000-mark in the Riyadh region with 1,099 new cases, while Jeddah and Makkah reported more than 400 cases with 447 and 411 new infections respectively. Dammam, Madinah, Al Khobar, and Qatif recorded 198, 161, 145, and 131 cases respectively. Of the newly confirmed cases, Saudi citizens make up 52 while expatriates account for 48 percent. Meanwhile, Females represent 32 percent of the cases, while males represent 68 percent. Only 5 percent of the reported cases are older persons, 11 percent are children and 84 percent are adults.
