Kuwait reports 630 new coronavirus cases, 4 more deaths

KUWAIT — Kuwait on Tuesday announced 630 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 33,140, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health carried by Kuwait News Agency. The ministry also said that four new deaths were also recorded during the same period, raising the total number of fatalities from the virus to 273 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country. The ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in his daily briefing that some of the cases contracted the virus due to mingling and others were being screened to determine and track the source of their infections. Of the new infections, 271 were of Kuwaiti citizens, 105 Indian nationals, 101 from Egypt, 57 from Bangladesh, and the rest hailed from various other countries, said Dr. Al-Sanad. There are currently 173 patients in intensive care wards and the total count of such cases stands at 10,705. Dr. Al-Sanad said 41 patients were cured of the infectious disease and were discharged from quarantines in past 24, however they were advised to sequester themselves at their houses for 14 days. According to the spokesman, the health authorities conducted 3,218 in the past 24 hours, taking the total number the examinations in the country to 321,502 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
