RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce and the General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT) have sought public opinion on the project for developing the organizational draft regulation for Saudi foreign business councils. They said the views should be based on the principle of participation and transparency and can be sent through email to the "surveygaft.gov.sa" website before June 26. The two organizations said the draft regulation aims to develop the work mechanism of Saudi foreign business councils, enhance their effectiveness in overcoming any obstacles and enable them to forge successful commercial partnerships to raise the private sector"s contribution to foreign trade and achieve the goals of the Kingdom"s Vision 2030, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said. The salient features of the draft regulation include setting the criteria for the establishment of regional business councils and their classification, setting their performance indices and evolving a mechanism for their reports and executive plans to develop trade exchange and investment with other countries. They also include determining the membership fees and diversifying resources. This is in addition to enhancing integration with government activities and private sector participation in decision-making and reflecting views on trade policies and agreements. The project and the form for expressing opinions can be found on the link: https://mc.gov.sa/DRSFBC.
