Checkpoints were set up in popular spots such as Dhofar province, Jabal Shams, Jabal Akhdar and Masirah Island, in an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus in the country. Authorities have also decided to close the coastal area of Duqm – Oman’s new socio-economic development – from Saturday until July 3. The checkpoints will be manned by the Royal Oman Police until July 3. Oman has confirmed 1,006 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing to 22,077 the country"s overall infections, the Omani news agency ONA reported Saturday.
