Tunisian-Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari to star in new thriller ‘Balestra’

DUBAI: “Aladdin” actor Marwan Kenzari is set to star with”Westworld” and “Creed” actress Tessa Thompson in an upcoming psychological thriller titled “Balestra,” reports Deadline. For the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @arabnews.lifestyle Thompson will also executive-produce the film, which will be directed by Nicole Dorsey – she of “Black Conflux” – and produced by Canadian film producer Pierre Even. “Balestra,” which is currently in pre-production, tells the story of a disgraced competitive fencer named Joanna Batory (Thompson). Eager to make an Olympic comeback, She begins to use a prototype device that allows her to extend her training into her sleeping hours, resulting in lucid dreams. Things take a turn when she encounters a stranger named Elliot (Kenzari) and gets caught up in her own web of subconscious desires. Born in the Netherlands to Tunisian parents, Kenzari is a seasoned stage actor who graduated from the Maastricht Academy of Performing Arts in 2009. He has since enjoyed a plethora of roles in Hollywood, including in the remakes of “The Mummy” and Kenneth Branagh’s “Murder on the Orient Express.” He’s best known for his role of the evil vizier Jafar in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Aladdin.”
