RIYADH — On behalf of the Ministry of Education, the General Education agency has launched the second phase training for education volunteers after completion of the first phase training of over 11,000 beneficiaries, providing them with the basics of volunteerism and a health education portfolio for education volunteers, Saudi Press Agency said on Monday. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for General Education and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Volunteerism at the ministry Dr. Muhammad Al-Muqbil said: “The program’s second stage complements the efforts made by the ministry to provide the participants with the basic concepts and skills of volunteering, to emphasize the spirit of effective citizenship and social responsibility through volunteerism, spreading volunteering work culture and ethics that are appropriate for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to expanding the base of community participation in volunteerism, to achieve the goals of the Kingdom"s Vision 2030. Dr. Al-Muqbil stressed that Saudi society is one of the first to adopt volunteerism and spread its culture because it reflects the Kingdom’s values, morals and humanity, pointing out the areas of voluntary work that touch many humanitarian aspects for anyone who wants to serve the society. He further said that the ministry is working on developing aspects of educating all segments of the society on volunteerism and encouraging them to serve their country and society and show their responsibility toward them. He added: “The National Committee for Voluntary Work makes great contributions at the level of the departments of education, university education and other education sectors, and through health practitioners affiliated with the ministry, or logistical support service providers.” “All this is being achieved in an organized and planned manner to provide support to all service and health agencies effectively, reflecting the spirit of citizenship and responsibility, and the true concepts of volunteerism, in ethics and skills,” Dr. Al-Muqbil said.
