Oman corona cases go past 38,000-mark

MUSCAT — The Oman health ministry on Sunday reported 1,197 new cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus, along with 837 recoveries. Among the new cases, 709 were Omanis while 488 were foreigners. With this, a total of 38,150 cases have been reported in the sultanate, along with 21,200 recoveries. Four people died of the virus on Sunday, which brings the virus-related death toll in the country to 163. The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing instructions, as well as staying at home and not going out unless necessary. Meanwhile, Muscat Municipality has announced precautionary measures for the visitors and vendors at markets. A statement issued online said: "Vendors and visitors to the market must comply with the following health measures: 1) People not wearing the masks and/or with body temperature more than 37.5 degrees Celsius will be denied entry. 2) Maintain physical distance between shoppers by leaving a safe distance of not less than 1.5 meters. 3) Children and the elderly are not permitted entry during the shopping process, and 4) Entry to the market will be limited, so that the number of shoppers do not exceed 30 percent of the market"s capacity. — Agencies
